Has there been any research into preferred starting terminology for describing gender diverse adolescents’ bodies, especially in the medical setting?
Liam Montanarelli (they/he)
41:46
Good question above. Perhaps it’s best to ask adolescents how they describe their own bodies?
Bern Monari, they/them/theirs
43:33
Liam, I definitely agree - I think my question is specifically if there’s been any data to indicate what terms might be most “neutral” in terms of how uncomfortable they are to hear in relation to the adolescent’s body, especially if the clinician or person interacting with them is not sure if the adolescent is gender diverse of some sort!

What is the role of healthcare individuals in providing care, or intervening on behalf of a child legally when parents are not supportive of care?
Bern Monari, they/them/theirs
01:32:03
Just a note: I did see a study recently looking at AFAB individuals given GnRHas for precocious puberty, and there were no differences between those women and women who were not given GnRHas in terms of fertility and fecundity

(regarding not supportive family) I feel part of this might be giving the youth resources like TrevorText (part of Trevor Project)is a confidential and secure resource that provides live help for LGBTQ youth with a trained specialist, over text messages. Text START to 678-678.
